The Dot and the Line

This picture is of my grandson, Colton, who is absolutely adorable in every way!!

Here is a picture of my two cats, whom I love tremendously! They are not usually in the same place at the same time.

Problem Solving

Albert Einstein on problem solving:
"Problems cannot be solved at the same level of awareness that created them."

Math.com Algebra link

Follow the link to math.com and note that it has been updated to link to the algebra section of the site. Last year, we were linked to the pre-algebra section. If you need to work on any pre-algebra skills, go to the pre-algebra section and find the topic you want. In this site, you can read about each topic, work on practice problems and take practice quizzes. GO VISIT THIS SITE and the post your comments about what you practiced, how easy/difficult you found the site, and whether you would recommend the site to your peers (other students on the team or in 8th grade).

Back to class!

I am back in class after about ten days since the first class. I have added some widgets to the site, so please check them out. One is a calculator that looks like a typical calculator, for students who say they "don't have a caculator at home". I also found a converter widget tat defaults to converting between customary and metric measurement, but it converts much more than that. Please explore to find out what it can do. Lastly, I put on a puzzle called "Mind Reader", which has a mathematical basis for the solution. Read the instructions and try the puzzle - it's fun!
